Those are looking much better! I'd say to keep the orb glow out of the sprite, it can be added as a separate layer in the animations. Parts of it are nice, and the stance seems appropriate for a "rogue mage", but I'm having trouble reading what's going on with whatever it is he's holding. The hood is also a bit hard to read; it's darker than the neck-scarf so maybe it's part of the hair?
