AFAIK, the only options you have for add-ons are to either change the theme via ThemeWML (somewhat undocumented, needs some trial and error), use the standard
[message]

Your idea somewhat touches on FPI #20: More Units . While obviously it would be great to have a higher diversity of factions (and, thus, playstyles), integrating a faction into mainline means balancing it. And this balancing progress is a long and tiring process, requiring many tweaks and playtests....

As you said, nights are not grey, but very dark and almost black. Where did I say that? I'm sorry – I misread your post. In this case, replace "As you said" with "in my experience": At least in the forest at night I can see nothing if the moon isn't bright / hidden by clouds. .....

As you said, nights are not grey, but very dark and almost black. I do not know the actual answer, but I wanted to correct this: The GPL does allow you to make money from the licensed product. I do not know how exactly this would apply to a novel, though.

Regarding Quest of Wesnoth – it's pretty much only in a proof-of-concept stage. I did, however, port it to 1.11/1.12/1.13/whatever we're on right now yesterday and plan to finally pick it up again.
