Re: top 10 best units
My top ten, speaking as someone who mostly plays campaigns, would be: 10. Walking Corpse - mostly here for its potential to snowball into an unstoppable undead horde. Top tier vibes. 9. Elvish Archer - a very good ranged attacker, let down slightly by reliance on piece damage. 8. Dwarvish Fighter - ...

Re: The UI of Battle For Wesnoth
I am not entirely sure about the technical feasibility of a project like this but in a vacuum I like all of the screenshots a lot! Though I think the in game UI might be a bit too minimalistic at the moment, how do you see the UI looking for especially unit information when there is simply more inf...

Re: Suggestions to improve Wesnoth if we had $500,000?
Too late for the poll, but here’s my thoughts on what I personally would prioritise if I became a millionaire and ‘bought Wesnoth’. 1. Commission artists to ensure that every mainline unit has a base sprite, full set of animations, and portrait. This would include replacing older artworks that don’t...

Heh, the merman glaring at the skeleton with a club in hand after the attacks.

Re: Dunefolk Lore - Revised
The Map Looking at the map, the main thing that strikes me is that the Ashland Desert pretty much cuts the Dunefolk lands in two. You've got one settled region around the Bay of Clouds, another along the Unnamed River in the south, and the Ashland Desert runs right in-between the two. There's no ma...

Re: Expanding The Great Continent - [Dunefolk Habitat]
I think there's probably a case for not having orcs in the south, purely because they're already so prominently featured across so many campaigns - by leaving them out of the south, we can give other factions a chance to shine, drakes in particular. With that said, though, pirate orcs based on Palmi...

Re: Dunefolk Lore - Consolidation
Eitherway, not explaining where they come from is also a good way to go for me. We could ignore the emigration part from where ever they may have come. But the backstory with the war and magic runes and alliances with trolls is something I would consider an "interesting backstory". Oh yea...

Re: Dunefolk Lore - Consolidation
Why do we need to establish this? I see no reason why this shouldn't be left open-ended. The Dunefolk themselves wouldn't necessarily know where they came from, beyond perhaps legends about a great exodus. Leaving a bit of mystery in that area could give more creative freedom for anyone who wants t...

Re: When are Javelineers useful?
If I was rebalancing the game, I'd give Javelineers skirmisher and ranged marksmen to give them a role in hunting down low-health enemies. In multiplayer, the Fencer usually fills this role for loyalists, as it can skirmish. I also think its attack, with four strikes, is well suited to hunting down...

Re: Maximum damage from a single strike, or in a single turn
An entirely different approach: Do multiplayer scenarios count? And does the Dunefolk count? If yes: which version? I mention this because of two things: 1) In 1.14.x, the Dunefolk has the Dune Cataphract (Lawful, Level 3) with an attack that does 44-1 pierce (45-1 if strong). Even though it might ...

Re: Maximum damage from a single strike, or in a single turn
How did you get to this? I tried this with a strong Iron Mauler, with 25% leadership and 25% time of day, and got 86 damage per strike.Nivanpylte2 wrote: ↑February 17th, 2020, 10:35 pm With a chokob's charging on a lvl3 shock trooper in perfect conditions we can get a 100+ damage per strike in retaliation !

Re: Dunefolk Rework - Unit Descriptions
There's a couple of things in the Dunefolk descriptions that need changing. While most Dunefolk castes serve an additional practical purpose beyond only direct warfare, Dune Soldiers are among the few who are completely dedicated to military purposes. By train intensely to hone their skill in swordp...

Re: Scenario Review: NR 11 - Eastern Flank
(1) What difficulty levels have you played the scenario on? Normal, 1.15.2. (2) How difficult did you find the scenario? (1-10) 10. I couldn't beat it after two tries. I probably could have got there eventually, but it just wasn't fun for me. (3) How clear did you find the scenario objectives? Crys...

(1) What difficulty levels have you played the scenario on? Normal, 1.15.2. (2) How difficult did you find the scenario? (1-10) 6. It looked challenging at first, but was actually pretty manageable once the drakes turned up. Had I lost Kresh earlier in the campaign, though, this would've been bruta...
