I opened up photoshop and took a stab at making a edited to a elvish champion. I took off the cape and the sword, re-did the bow, and re-colored him. He here his. ( he is also my icon).
How do I do it? I have learned to Frankenstein fairly well, and I know how to animate, but I don't know how to make a sprite from scratch without copying parts of other sprites.

Proper buttons need several variants (normal/active/pressed).
For buttons with text, this is handled automatically, but for buttons
with an icon, it looks like the variants have to be done by hand as
separate graphics.
Without making pixel-art (like for units), how do you make
