Several of our mainline campaigns are in the works for upgrades at the moment, which includes adding characters and enhancing existing scenarios. We are looking for more artwork to supplement these upgrades, including the following:
We are happy to announce that Wesnoth is now able to accept donations on Liberapay . While Wesnoth does rely on the work of dedicated volunteers, no project can function completely cost-free. Revenue from the Apple App Store and from donations goes towards maintaining our servers,...
There have been numerous important forum posts and wiki articles written by users and developers. We reference these pages a lot, and decided to put them together in a convenient list.
Write clearly, be nice to others, and be very careful when posting anything related to politics or religion. When asking for help, remember that everyone here is a volunteer. Prefer editing your previous post over double posting. No animated avatars or graphical signatures. Don’t plagiarize other’s...
I'd like to say that I think this whole writer's sub-forum is a great idea. In the past it has sometimes felt like text has been overlooked in some corners of Wesnoth. In fact, I used to feel a bit like I was just a pedantic saddo for letting lines like Grrr, lets kick there asses! put me off...
I think part of the problem is there isn't enough written about the Wesnoth universe to even determine what fits in and what doesn't. Aside from what's already in the game and some brief history , we have no reference material to tell us in detail about Wesnoth.
I've added Create Writing to the Wiki, analogous to Create Music and Create Art. Go ahead and modify it however you want. (If anyone can remove it from Category:Campaigns, that would be helpful!)
In connection with that: here's a task for you if you're bored on a rainy afternoon. Go to...
This article is specifically focused on writing scenario dialogue.
See also the Campaign Design How-To thread (and the link to
which also considers this area and provides some excellent advice. Before
I write more I wanted to get some feedback on the bits produced so far.
Right now, the description thread has been fairly active. Personally, I think that at least one of the descriptions that's come out of it is good enough/enough of an improvement to be included in mainline.
Now it could be that there are forces beyond my ken that are at work here, but it bothers...
I'm quite into writing short stories (because they never get beyond a certain point, but anyway I dirgress) and one thing strikes me - there's no tales of Gods in Wesnoth. Now either the Wesnothians are extremely sensible (!) or we're going against the fantasy grain.
I suggest that, like with art, there should be standards when it comes to mainline writing. I also suggest that, like with art, good writing can be learned. So I suggest that, like with art, there should be a workshop for improving writing. A place for people to discuss campaign dialog, story...
I've been going through the mainline scenarios as if with a fine-tooth comb, and found oodles of small mistakes. I've counted at least 55 so far just with the first 4 mainline campaigns. I'll see if I can go through the rest tonight.
Feel free to review the changes I proposed there. They're pretty...
Not sure if this is where I should bring such things up, but I've just started and wanted to make a contribution.
Existing description:
Leadership
This unit can lead friendly units that are next to it, making them fight better. Adjacent friendly units of lower level will do more damage in...
I'm tidying up a Lithuanian translation of `An Orcish Incursion' (on branch 1.6) and I have
found a suspicious piece of original prose. In scenario 4, the `Valley of Trolls', upon death
of Erlornas (line 291 of 4_Valley_of_Trolls.cfg),
During their retreat, the pass was crossed by another...
I'm sure there's a lot of parts of the wiki that could use help, but I think this one takes the cake:
$variable-name a variable value depends on the value of the WML variable variable-name . See VariablesWML for more information on WML-variable based values.
:hmm: I'm not really sure what this...
Wed April 8 note: Edited to (1) further correct section 2.2 sentence 2 to reflect the fact that carryover percentage depends on the campaign, as per esr's notes in ; (2) substitute a different example for proposed section 2.5.3 to make the effects of terrain on hit-probabilities clearer.
Hello, everyone! My campaign is finished, and as such, it has A LOT of grammar mistakes. As I am busy working on the unit anims and such, would any of you be so kind as to check and point out my many spelling and grammar mistakes? Also, I would like input on how the story doesn't make sense, etc....
