ERROR in 1.17.15

Post by kartacha »

Image

I cannot find a specific thread for 1.17.15 so I am posting here.

I faced the bug when playing the new campaign WoF after the second scenario and before the third one. I downloaded the version from itch.io for Windows 10.

I faced the issue just when reading the dialogue and it popped when I tried to go forward on the displayed screen (as well as when I directly tried to Skip to the battle). Regardless of which of the three buttons I press, the game crashes.

Copied the logs with the copy button as shown in the instructions:

Just as someone new to the process of testing a development version, I wanted to get your suggested approach for my case.

I am recording my playthrough of the campaign to add up to the other campaigns in my YT channel. Should I just downgrade to an earlier version in order to be able to carry on with the campaign? Will I be able to use my save until now? If so, which version would you suggest me pick. I know that there will always be some risk with development versions but what would be the more stable versions of 1.17.XX?

I also stream and in my experience, I found that discovering a engine bug during a live stream negatively impacts a viewers impression of the game, which me as a dev would not want. I think you can just playtest on the stable 1.16.9 version, but if you have to play on 1.17.x, I recommend 1.17.14
as for savefiles, I think you have to start over from S2, but you can try to see if S3 start of scenario save works. It might...I am not sure.

I do not livestream the game, I it is a recorded playthrough so that is why I decided to try 1.17 at all. I would not have had I indeded to stream it. I was just too impatient and the time was right schedule-wise for the continuation of Wesnoth. :D

I will try a bunch of approaches with 1.17.14 then. How much time does it usually take for a new patch to gets kicked out? I might end up waiting if it ain't too much.

Depends. Usually, 30-32 days. But if there's some critical game breakage bug, a hotfix is made available as soon as a solution is deployed.
