And more...
Any advice is appreciated. I plan on doing most, if not all of the art for the Fuedal Age human faction.

I think the Levy's legs look alright. All these are better than I'd be able to do, anyway. Maybe someday I'll try to make one.theotherhiveking wrote:all legs looks strange...
Oh, and don't let those sprites into the mead. I would hate to be chased by orcs, and go to the levy to find the levy dry.
Out with the old, in with the new.
Hi folks! Remember me? Please say no.

These were all created using the Human Frankenpack, for two reasons.... One, no one has used it to create faction art, to my knowledge, so this serves as proof of concept. Two, I'm not sure I can actually draw anything from scratch.
The Serf is a level 0, and the line is thus: Serf -> Levy -> Sergeant.
Yeoman is a level 1, thusly: Yeoman -> Forester -> Longbowman.
So, I should use the Spearman and Archer as a ruler? Alright, makes sense. My problem now is that I'll likely wind up having to add random pixels, which I try to avoid.... Only times I did that here were for the Forester's neck, since it didn't fit in well originally, and to change the spear to a bill.

... or disproof. I would suggest recolouring some of the components to make the frankensteining a bit less obvious (for example the khaki thug/bandit torso appearing in three of your units).so this serves as proof of concept

So, here's what I'm going to do.
Yeoman: Total redo. Realized after I pieced it together that it's almost exactly the Loyalist Archer, only poorly balanced.
Forester: Possible recolor, maybe try to make him a little taller in keeping with being level 2.
Longbowman: Correct the balance. Taller? Possibly.
Serf: Definitely needs to be taller. Balance is way off.
Levy: Height, etc. seems to be ok. Recolor of the jacket is in order. Move the shield in closer.
Sergeant: Seems ok to me... Recolor the jacket, of course, try for a Wisby Coat of Plates look if possible.
Does that sound good?

Since noone else has answered: Sounds okay, but it's always hard to be sure until you actually see it.Maeglin Dubh wrote:Does that sound good?

Hmm, not sure exactly what you did, Eternal[1], but that looks awesome!
[1] Actually, I might find it constructive later to compare the two sprites side by side and analyse the differences.

He fixed the legs, added a few shouldpads or similar, and tweaked some parts to make the transition more smooth. nonetheless its one of the best looking ones, also the one I like most from your sprites being that peasant one the second I liked most.irrevenant wrote:Hmm, not sure exactly what you did, Eternal[1], but that looks awesome!
That's the way to go for anyone that wants to learn spriteart, especially to learn about shading that is one of the most hard to do or the legs, tought changing the skin/armor color is a good way to learn from a starter. Now... where you will use the image? I like it even better than the old longbowman of the loyalists[1] Actually, I might find it constructive later to compare the two sprites side by side and analyse the differences.

I like eternal's edit.
