Re: Scenario Review: Liberty 6 - The Gray Woods
(1) What difficulty level and version of Wesnoth have you played the scenario on?
1.10.7 Difficult
(2) How difficult did you find the scenario? (1-10)
3.
(3) How clear did you find the scenario objectives?
Clear
(4) How clear and interesting did you find the dialog and storyline of the scenario?
Fine.
(5) What were your major challenges in meeting the objectives of the scenario?
It's a large map, with fog of war, and three opponents, which led to a few situations where my troops were inadvertently left in vulnerable positions. This could have been a tricky scenario because of these things, except for the presence of an ally recruiting level 3 units and the enemy hiring almost exclusively level 1 units. I had enough level 2's to chew them up, helped by leading the impact heavy outlaws against a skeleton heavy enemy.
(6) How fun do you think the scenario is? (1-10)
6. It was a interesting chaotic battle, but it was too easy.
(7) What, if any, are changes you would have made to the scenario to make it more fun?
The enemy needs to recruit more level 2's. Given the number of enemies and the fog of war hiring exclusively level 2's would probably swing the difficulty to far in the other direction, but they need to have a bit more teeth to them then they do currently.
(8) Was there any event that caused you to lose the game and forced you to reload or restart the scenario?
No.
1.10.7 Difficult
(2) How difficult did you find the scenario? (1-10)
3.
(3) How clear did you find the scenario objectives?
Clear
(4) How clear and interesting did you find the dialog and storyline of the scenario?

Re: Scenario Review: Liberty 6 - The Gray Woods
(1) What difficulty level and version of Wesnoth have you played the scenario on?
1.11.16 Fugitive (difficult), 230 starting gold
(2) How difficult did you find the scenario? (1-10)
4 - Shroud and some bigger enemies actually caused casualties
(3) How clear did you find the scenario objectives?
Clear.
(4) How clear and interesting did you find the dialog and storyline of the scenario?
Okay. Makes sense to ally with unsavory folks, who make themselves sound reasonable.
(5) What were your major challenges in meeting the objectives of the scenario?
None ... its easy.
(6) How fun do you think the scenario is? (1-10)
4 - Less fun because a chunk of the difficulty is finding the enemy and sometimes sending a guy wandering off to nowhere.
(7) What, if any, are changes you would have made to the scenario to make it more fun?
Usual AI problem - kill a disjointed first wave and then walk over the rest. Need to upgrade the first wave quality (level 2 or even 3 units). Personally I'd love to see a second wave of purely high level units.
(8) Was there any event that caused you to lose the game and forced you to reload or restart the scenario?

Re: Scenario Review: Liberty 6 - The Gray Woods
(1) What difficulty level and version of Wesnoth have you played the scenario on?
1.12.0 Hard no reloads
(2) How difficult did you find the scenario? (1-10)
6. Knowledge of terrain and enemies is half the battle. The other half is recruiting mostly Footpads (once again).
(3) How clear did you find the scenario objectives?
They were okay. Find the bad guys and kill them.
(4) How clear and interesting did you find the dialog and storyline of the scenario?
Did not really read it to be honest.
(5) What were your major challenges in meeting the objectives of the scenario?
Figuring out that you need Footpads for the battles and the melee guys for the leaders.
(6) How fun do you think the scenario is? (1-10)
6
(7) What, if any, are changes you would have made to the scenario to make it more fun?
The bottom left of the map is pretty dead (the part behind the boss). But if you don't know, you have to search the area regardless. Maybe make the path to the end boss from there slightly more accessible. Also a hint about the enemy leaders being powerful ranged units and the need to bring enough melees would be splendid.
(8) Was there any event that caused you to lose the game and forced you to reload or restart the scenario?
Wrong recruitment, had no lvl 2+ melee units to kill leaders.
(9) If you know a bit of the Wesnoth Markup Language - do you think that the WML of this scenario is clear and well commented? If not which part would you like to be documented better?

A suggestion, not a review: maybe convert the northeast cave to {UNDERGROUND} time of day?

(1) What difficulty level and version of Wesnoth have you played the scenario on?
- 1.14.5, Easy
(2) How difficult did you find the scenario? (1-10)
- 5
(3) How clear did you find the scenario objectives?
- Clear, kill the necromancers and lich
(4) How clear and interesting did you find the dialog and storyline of the scenario?
- I like it. I can relate to Baldras' suspicion towards Helicrom, seeing that not every ally in Wesnoth can be trusted unless you actually have mutual goals.
(5) What were your major challenges in meeting the objectives of the scenario?
- Progressing at the lich, mostly because enemies would stand in the terrain suited for them (such as standing on hills for better defense
(6) How fun do you think the scenario is? (1-10)
- 7
(7) What, if any, are changes you would have made to the scenario to make it more fun?
- I'd go with lich having some lines, especially after losing his necromancers. And if possible, have him get the reinforcements consisted of level 2 undead units
(8) Was there any event that caused you to lose the game and forced you to reload or restart the scenario?
- None

Re: Scenario Review: Liberty 6 - The Gray Woods
(1) What difficulty level and version of Wesnoth have you played the scenario on?
Difficult, version 1.14.5.
(2) How difficult did you find the scenario? (1-10)
7, since the position of Baldras’ camp and the terrain made it hard to send in reinforcements. Aditionally, defeating the bosses in their well-defended keeps meant considerable losses.
(3) How clear did you find the scenario objectives?
Clear, defeat all enemy leaders you can find in the fog.
(4) How clear and interesting did you find the dialog and storyline of the scenario?
It’s nice, although I find it a bit late in the campaign for the shadow mages to join in.
(5) What were your major challenges in meeting the objectives of the scenario?
I was overwhelmed by the black enemies attack in the center of the map, and it took the reinforcements rather long to arrive. Another major challenge was keeping the allied shadow mages from getting all the good XP.
(6) How fun do you think the scenario is? (1-10)
It’s an 8, fighting under the fog against several undead armies of unknown size is challenging. The offer of the shadow mage in the ending and the choice to make is interesting. I went for their support in battle, for the dramatic appeal of it.
(7) What, if any, are changes you would have made to the scenario to make it more fun?
If there was a small keep closer to the center of the map, which Baldras could take later, to be a bit closer to the action, that would be really nice.
(8) Was there any event that caused you to lose the game and forced you to reload or restart the scenario?
No, although losing retreating level 2 units to bats always hurts.
Difficult, version 1.14.5.

A bit weird or artificial. This arc could use more buildup. Or I missed it maybe?Content Feedback wrote: ↑March 10th, 2008, 11:55 pm (4) How clear and interesting did you find the dialog and storyline of the scenario?
