Re: Galactic Empires (MP Sci-fi Scenario)
IIRC it happened to specialists due to a bad spelling in one .cfg file.LPM42 wrote:I've found a bug where terran soldiers that upgrade during combat on a planet are later unable to be beamed back aboard the transport ship. Fixes?
I don't know whether it was corrected in the newest version.
I work on Conquest Minus • I use DFoolWide, Retro Terrain Package and the add-on 'High Contrast Water'

Not just Terran soldiers; at least one of the two robotic warrior upgrades can't be beamed aboard.LPM42 wrote:I've found a bug where terran soldiers that upgrade during combat on a planet are later unable to be beamed back aboard the transport ship. Fixes?

This is great, I like it.
If you beam up a unit that already almost depleted his mp then it will cause a crash..
Unfortunate bug?
Anyone?
I like to see this updated frequently, it has alot of potential.
The ship graphics and space environment really give it a good Wesnothian-style space atmosphere.
Anyway, nice mod!

You need to upgrade your transporter at a spacedock to transport level 1 units.
A normal terran transport can just transport soldiers, workers and scientists.
Upgraded onces can transport all kind of level1 "soldiers" or "civilists"
at least it was so once.

I've found some maps in C:\Program Files\Battle for Wesnoth 1.6.5\userdata\data\campaigns\Galactic_Empires\maps
but I can't seem to find these maps when in-game?
I see a Delta Quadrant Map file, a Gamma Quadrant Map file, 6p Galaxy, Galaxy, Space_Grid_Hex, Space_Grid_Oblong..
How do I play these maps? I can't seem to see them in-game.

Re: Galactic Empires (MP Sci-fi Scenario)
I've updated Galactic Empires for Wesnoth 1.8, it's now on the add-ons list.
I'd like to know if anyone can replicate the old beaming bug. It seems like it might be fixed now.
I played a game with CMG last night and although it was fun I found it rather confusing. I haven't played this mod for ages, but even so, if the person who made finds it too complicated then something is wrong. I propose a set of changes to simplify things a bit:
1. Remove the flagship option.
2. Replace the 'refitting' option for transporters with a new type of transporter ship for lvl1 units.
3. Completely revise the science system. Instead of 4 fields of science, I am thinking of simply having 4 levels of advancement. Each level will allow new ships, upgrades and faction bonuses. This will replace the confusing tech tree and remove the need to think about how to direct scientist's research, so you can get on with fighting.
4. Troops will no longer be slowed on beaming down (I want invasions to be more likely).
Anyone object to any of this? Any ideas on how to simplify it?

Re: Galactic Empires (MP Sci-fi Scenario)
i always thought the science system is great.
4 fields to research is not too much and also not too flat.
i haven played this mod for long, but i always thought its good to have a decison wether you want to research better ships or more income or whatever.
the make the best out of the game you have to get a bit involved in it.
everything else would be strange.
having just a number of scientists and everything then would be same is too flat.
also you just have to set a number at start of your turn and can check it.
theres nothing what keeps you from having focus on battle.
in my eyes flatten the science system would be a downfall.
since the current sience system allows to play different strategies.
the tech tree is also not too confusing, its just a matter that you need to be a bit involved in the game.
just that somebody that never/rarely played wesnoth gets confused about having 6 different types of damage doesnt mean you shoudl flatten it to 1 type.

The best bet is your own, good Taste.

Re: Galactic Empires (MP Sci-fi Scenario)
I'd suggest adding gravity wells for terrain around the planets: they take 2 move points because going in you have to keep slow enough and going out you're fighting gravity, and they would somehow affect accuracy because of gravitational distortion of weapon trajectories. Perhaps 10-20% extra defense to all ships? Just in case you needed a more interesting spacial terrain. You could also add matter or gravity streams going out from stars, which would be more powerful than planets' wells (3 movement, +20-30% defense?). If you wanted different names, you could use "stellar gravity well" and "planetary gravity well".

No right click options?
Apologies if this isn't the right place...
I've just downloaded the GE add-on (running latest version of Wesnoth, yes I don't actually know what release it is) and when I run the tutorial or if I just load up a map, there are none of these right click options, such as 'Beam me up' and 'Population control'. I've basically got no idea how I use these, since right clicking (as the tutorial said) doesn't actually list them.

Re: No right click options?
You need to use the 'Galactic Empires Era' on GE maps. I suspect that is the problem.whiteghost wrote:Apologies if this isn't the right place...

I have to say, great scenario!
However, when playing against the computer, the enemies huddle protectively around their leader.
