I've been following it for a while now. When I looked at the screenshots once a long time ago, all the 3d stuff seemed really ugly (I really dig the jugendlike 2d style though); but now it looks pretty as well.

Seems reaaally nice, but sadly it doesn't look like it's gonna be ported to mac (unless I'm mistaken)...

Probably not, which makes me sad. :(

Yeah, some pretty nice graphics. But the trees look terrible. What were they thinking?

Wow, what an old screen you got there. Even the interface is not up to date. So you shouldn't judge about tree graphics depending on that screen :)

That screen is shown under http://elementalgame.com/media - if the developers don't want people to judge them by old screenshots & similar, they shouldn't display them in a place where people can take them for current ones.

Well thats arts - subject to personal taste. I for myself love that style.

What impressed me the most is that Stardock has opted not to make a console version, which they say would mess up the implementations of some things they have in mind.

Forfeiting more cash for artistic ideals? Yes please.

Too sad that they didn't read Dave's log on game design and went for squares instead of hexes, but hey, thats bearable

It's nice to see some innovative attempt at turn-based strategy.

I just had (a very short) conversation with one of the dev's on IRC: "We will not be making a mac version, no.". :annoyed: My question is "Why not?" - oh well.
I'm finally admitting that this will be a very long (if not permanent) Wesbreak. Thank y'all for the great times, and may Wesnoth rise to become one of the most popular games on the planet.

I saw an analysis of this sort of thing, and it turns out that the average game must sell 1,000,000 copies just to break even. While costs for conversion to Mac are much less than a whole new game, it would still be unlikely to ever even break even, so why would they? The Mac market is just too small for a big budget game.

so has anyone picked this up yet? i was a HUGE HUGE HUGE fan of Master of Magic and this is basically its sequel (other than Age of Wonders). From what I can gather from their forums is the release was extremely buggy and they took huge losses because of it but they are dedicating their whole team to improving the game with bug fixes and updates.

In a month or two (or six) this game has the potential to be amazing and my new addiction :)
