[solved] Crash changing resolution
EDIT: Fixed in 1.19 (probably before, but that's where I re-tested it)
Linux Mint 21.1, Cinnamon
In the start gui (load, campaigns, etc), choose preferences, display, resolution -- in my case 1920x1012 w/o full screen.
Choose 1024x768
Choose 1920x1080
Workaround: After selecting 1024x768, hit the maximize button (the square) in the top right of the window before selecting 1920x1080.

Re: Crash changing resolution
This sounds like https://github.com/wesnoth/wesnoth/issues/5518. It's been a few months since this was reported, though, so I'm guessing it's no longer an issue but of course please report if it is.
