Re: Bob's RPG Era
I apologize if this has been previously mentioned, but the "Wisdom" perk doesn't seem to be worth buying. It takes 4 cp or 40% of the total cp earned per level, and only reduces your experience required for the next level by 3. Even at starting level, this is only a reduction of 10-15%. Si...

Re: NEW: Elvish Dynasty RPG
okay i won. i think you can torment invix all you want with other units - OR - you can do so after you touch the stone; but if you try to raise aurelia's xp by beating on him (somehow the second attack MUST be the killing blow) the cutscene won't happen. i suppose it serves me right, but it's still ...

Re: NEW: Elvish Dynasty RPG
Thanks for the quick reply. I did touch the stone, but LOOOONG after I was told to. I used Invix as a punching bag for quite awhile (5 exp for each attack, as long as you slow first it's pretty safe due to passive leader AI) before I touched the stone so maybe that's what threw it off. Trying again....

Re: NEW: Elvish Dynasty RPG
ummmm how do you kill invix? i touched the stone, and then i ran over to attack invix and his wounds immediately healed anyway... do i need to keep the other enemy leaders alive? or not attack invix with aurelia prior to touching the stone? or kill ALL of the other leaders before touching the stone?...

Re: NEW: Elvish Dynasty RPG
First off, this is great. political undertones are hilarious at times, thought provoking at others. well written, coherent, cohesive, etc. also original. really dynamic use of the wesnoth engine. i just beat coastal defense on easy level, wesnoth 1.8.2 and it crashed. after letting me know all the r...

Re: Installing 1.8.2
Then I downloaded 1.8.1 & installed that, but the same thing happened. However, the problems began after the loyalist files were unpacked (the terrain files or something). So I deleted the loyalist folder in 1.8.2 (Actually the computer wouldn't let me delete it at first so I renamed it "ck...

Stalrag needs antidepressants
Trying to play settling disputes and Stalrag uses his first turn to move into the unoccupied village to the southeast, even though he's beside my healer. Somehow he's promptly slain by a nearby troll, (again) even though he has about... 1/2 a hitpoint. Endless amusement! Rather than fix the AI, just...

Installing 1.8.2
When installing version 1.8.2, running windows xp home 2002 sp1, i get the following dialogue box: Error opening the following file for writing: C:\Program Files\Battle for Wesnoth 1.8.2\data\core\images\units\human-loyalists\bowman-bow-attack-1.png Abort - Retry - Ignore Abort does what it says. Re: Count Kromire: The Conquest of House Michbie
To level a bloodborn in scen. 1 i turned the therian in the northern forests and fed as many kills as possible (including the two level 2 units) to him, using the other bloodborn as fodder. This made the earlier scenarios much easier. Sorry if this is off-topic but it's the closest thread i can find...

Re: Count Kromire: The Conquest of House Michbie
My difficulty with this scenario was due to my initial setup, and my attempts to keep the peasants alive. If you finish scenario 1 with.... 10 bloodborn all 1 exp. away from levelling, then you are at a disadvantage compared to having a single level 2 unit(other than kromire/igor), since the bloodbo...

Re: The War of the Dragon
How is one supposed to fare on lisuandra's stand?
I lasted for a measly 11 turns.
I started w/ 200 gold.
AI gets 186 gold per turn!(82/52/52)
Played on 'Hard'.
Albeit this was my first run and made a half-hearted attempt to flee much too late but...
ugh.
Did I do terrible, or just awful?

Re: Up From Slavery
played version 0.1 on hard difficulty. sc. 1 set the atmosphere very well. I was immersed in the plot immediately. sc. 2 was too easy(for hard difficulty level). I killed all the enemies w/o much difficulty instead of running away. If I'm supposed to run, I should have to. more waves of (stronger) e...

Re: 1.6 Campaign: A Rough Life - version 1.0.99
Alas, no. The explorer has been dead for a long while (hence the bones). Ha, the way I played this scenario the explorer could have settled down and raised a family by the time I got to him. :) Suppose the shortage of eligible women would prove difficult but... Definitely enough help in the scene t...

Re: 1.6 Campaign: A Rough Life - version 1.0.99
Just a couple of comments and a curiousity- First - I like the campaign (thus far[haven't finished it yet]). I think the dialogue is well written, and Jacques non-linear advancement is really good. Even though the goal is somewhat 'slay bad guy, save maiden and village' the plot is ... mysterious? e...

Scenario 5
The Scorpion Queen is finally dead! I had the same problem as several others - didn't go to the oasis to trigger the discovery. While fighting off the constantly spawning scorpions provided a challenge the Queen just let me fire rounds into her without offering any resistance. Just stood there and g...
