Re: How autonomous/intelligent are individual undead?

I like to think that you are closer to the deceased by giving tribute to their memory, but now where getting somewhere totally else... I can imagine that the barrier between the world of the living and the world of the dead has gaps in it. But how is the connection between body and soul supposed to ...

Re: How autonomous/intelligent are individual undead?

Oh, ok. The german descriptions aren't that clear. Still the idea that the soul remains conncected with the body seems a bit weird to me...

I'm sorry but I could not find this piece of information in the unit's description. Could you give me a quote?

Re: How autonomous/intelligent are individual undead?

But wouldn't this require a link between body and soul that remains even after death? Or can any soul be attached to any body? Another idea would be that raising non-sapient undead would work like the Imperius Curse in Harry Potter: once the spell is performed the target of this spell just does what...

Re: How autonomous/intelligent are individual undead?

I meant that the undead move thanks to a sort of spiritual energy, that comes from the soul that is bound in the corpse either by necromancy or by unfortunate events. The binding spell can be fed either by this energy or by some external energy, but it's not quite likely that a necromancer would an...

Re: How autonomous/intelligent are individual undead?

I think, Dugi's suggestion fits quite well with folklore and wesnothian canon. However it brings up another question: What does it need to keep an Undead walking? Do they depend on some source of energy? Do they have to feed on the living? Does the conjuror have to "feed" them with magic e...

Re: How autonomous/intelligent are individual undead?

I'd think, one needs a very strong will and sense of duty. Also this person has to be a very "strong" (not in the physical sense - I can't think of a better word) person during lifetime. And the incomplete task needs to be of great importance for this person. Also the circumstances have to...

Re: How autonomous/intelligent are individual undead?

DiD has a huge problem with that wraith there. There's just nobody present who Malin could speak or interact with. The wraith feels like a mistake to me, it would be better to rewrite the thing to not need him. Malin commands the wraith with his voice to kill him even though he should be controllin...

Re: Download count being an implicit ranking system

I'm not a UMC contributor and I don't use the download number to decide which add-on I try next either. So maybe I'm off this topic, but allow me to throw in the following thought: A Competition needs opponents. If this person, Dugi is complaining about, considers himself in a competition and uses u...

Re: Proposed Race Description For Wose

I like your suggestion! Apart from what zookeeper said about "mother nature" one little thing: Wose disturbance of the ancient forests which they tend will incite a wrath greater than that of Mother Nature herself. Greater than nature itself? To me it sounds a bit weird given that woses ar...

Re: Question about magi

- The story must be quite good. Not something too mainstream like one guy going to stop an orcish thread, defeating several orcish keeps and finally defeats their boss. - The gameplay must be interesting, not just the usual defeat all enemy leaders all the time. Yet AOI is exactly like this and it ...

Re: Question about magi

There's no obvious reason why magi should live in celibacy, so imo it's no problem.
