Re: The Hammer of Thursagan portrait repaints
Who did the other portrait of Thursagans hammer? It´s way cooler than mine, and I should think about redoing mine to fit with it. Would be nice with a sketch of how it looks uncovered.
Re: The Hammer of Thursagan portrait repaints
Just posting to say: I'm alive, I haven't given up, I've just been busy. And am busy. Have become a father, so that takes time. But with some luck I will manage to finish this campaign this year, because there will be some extra time here and there.

Re: The Hammer of Thursagan portrait repaints
Because it's literally all that's needed to complete the set, because we're going to be waiting a while for further updates, and because it's such a massive upgrade over the previous portraits, I've committed the Perrin portrait that was done a while back, as well as tasteful recolors of the most recent masked-dwarf (since what they're replacing was also just mere recolors).
There was a bit of contention over the character design for Perrin, and DUHH has said he wants to do further work on the masked dwarves - don't consider my commit as a "finalization", just as a placeholder to make the campaign look much nicer.
I look forward to DUHH's further work on the dwarves.

I'm tinkering away on the dwarves, but it's taking a long time getting into the groove again. And my groove was always a bit slow. But updates will be coming.

Also, good luck on the whole "dad" thing.

Thank you! The "dad" thing is... fun. But exhausting.
Anyhow... since I can easilly sit and doodle on this for eternity without ever getting anywhere, here's a variation for the masked dwarves. Not finished. C&C welcomed.

Re: The Hammer of Thursagan portrait repaints
Welcome back !
Here's a quick review and a paintover to illustrate.
* Hammer construction problems: I outlined some parrallelism errors that mess up the hammer's perspective
* Anatomy: the height difference between his shoulders is exaggerated, even if you account for perspective and the weight of the shield that he's compensating.
* Anatomy: the (our) right leg is too far apart, which in turn messes the pelvis region
* Anatomy: the beard currently hangs very straight, the way wet hair does. It would feel more lifelike with some slight undulations, and a flow that hints at the position of his chin
* Shading & volumes: a greater contrast between general light and shadows would allow a better reading of the overal volumes
* Shading & volumes: the cast shadow and beltbuckle reflection of the shield contradict the overal top left lightsource you've picked,
* Shading & volumes: the shield will be clearly set apart if it doesn't have the exact same tones as the leather shirt. Different background colour, increased contrast with the painted sigil : pick your tool,
I hope this helps.

You're welcome.
On a side note, a while ago you requested a detailed sketch of Thursagan's hammer such as it appeared in his portrait: I'm working on something.

And here's the hammer. I did a detailed picture rather than a quick sketch because I need it for my portfolio, but if someone thinks it can have a use ingame, by all means go ahead.
