Yes, I was aware of that.
Blueish purple goes nicely with orange, don'tcha think?
EDIT: Last second tweak.

It does. Keep in mind I do mean a *bunch* of colors. This is a good start, but we'll need several other colors to give it that really high-level pixel-art look.Eternal wrote:Yes, I was aware of that.

Amongst other things, I suggest some hunter green in there, too.

More detailing on body... And some hunter green(ish) there.
I'll keep on churning.

Re: fire dragon redo
Looking good. Keep up the good work. However, the rear foot seems a little large to me - it's about as big as his head. Maybe tone that down a little?

*holds foot up to face* That doesn't seem to be a problem to me. But i agree that the claws there could stand to be a touch smaller.thespaceinvader wrote:Looking good. Keep up the good work. Re: fire dragon redo
This is true for humans, who walk on their heelbones. However, given the layout of the dragon's limbs, you should be comparing the size of the ball of your foot with your head

Actually, I would increase the size of the front ones to match - it makes the dragon look heftier, because big real-life creatures tend to have over-proportionately large limbs (inverse square rule in effect). I think it's fine for this dragon here to look like a tank.

Re: fire dragon redo
Is this ok?
EDIT: After looking at these large feet/hands a lightbulb appeared next to my head.
For impact damage, would it be possible to make the dragon fly up a bit and drop on the victim with a crushing boom accompanied by a small ground shaking effect?

Re: fire dragon redo
That would work. There's been a lot of discussion about how to render the impact attack, since a tail swipe is really not an option with a sprite of this size.

Honestly, I'd suggest doing it like the Diablo 3 Siege Breaker. Ref this vid, slightly over halfways through:thespaceinvader wrote:That would work. There's been a lot of discussion about how to render the impact attack, since a tail swipe is really not an option with a sprite of this size.

The anatomy is understandably a bit different (that has six limbs, after all), but four of them are roughly analogous, and in that vid, he rears, and brings the whole front weight of his body down in a big slamming motion. I think that would work really well, and would look appropriate for multiple directions with a small offset.
(An in-action video of the thing can be seen here, although there's another boss fight right before it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cXdNaq5agSY ) (Warning, slightly nsfw on violence)

Re: fire dragon redo
The 'rear-and-slam' option.
Well, pixelmind is working on something with his current Dragon - I think he decided on a backhanded slap. But we'll see how that looks when it's done.
Oh, and this dragon has six limbs too don't forget the wingses

So shinyyyyy....
I can't wait to see that effect fully applied, he's going to look impressive. Good to see the progress.
