Support for other languages in UMC
Another question on the differences between Wesnoth 1.14 for iOS and Wesnoth 1.14 desktop version.
My campaign (Bloodlust) has now a translation in French, which is used when Wesnoth language is selected to be French, on desktop Wesnoth.
But it is not the case with the iOS Wesnoth.
I have in

What is missing to have the translation used by the iOS Wesnoth?

_main.cfg
the following configuration
Code: Select all
[textdomain]
name="wesnoth-bloodlust"
path="data/add-ons/Bloodlust/translations"
[/textdomain]
translations/fr/LC_MESSAGES
both files wesnoth-bloodlust.po
and wesnoth-bloodlust.mo
.What is missing to have the translation used by the iOS Wesnoth?

Re: Support for other languages in UMC
I believe that the .po file goes in translations/wesnoth-bloodlust/ and needs to be called fr.po?
Re: Support for other languages in UMC
Indeed, it seems that you are right.
Looking again at https://wiki.wesnoth.org/WesnothTranslationsHowTo the .po and the .mo files don't go to the same place.
I did the same as some other UMC, which apparently were wrong.
And the difference between the iOS version and the desktop version would be that the iOS version does not use the .mo files.

Re: Support for other languages in UMC
I asked about the use of .mo and .po files and was told that for UMC we might as well use .po since the speed gain for .mo is very little. So I've dropped using .mo's : )Ptitboul wrote: ↑December 4th, 2021, 5:13 pm Indeed, it seems that you are right.

Re: Support for other languages in UMC
I am puzzled. Now I have the .po files in the right place, but still no translation for the iOS version.
I have looked at other campaigns, and for example "To Lands Unknown" has working translation in french on iOS, but only has the .mo files...

In the add-on's directory name,
(Tested on Linux, not iOS).
BloodLust
, the second L
is capitalised; you need to change the [textdomain]path=
string to match.(Tested on Linux, not iOS).
Re: Support for other languages in UMC
Thank you. That was the mistake I made.
I don't know why it worked on Android.
